but I believe that openness and honesty are extremely important, so I have been happy to do so about my own journey, whilst respecting that some people find the topic difficult.
After my diagnosis, knowing that there was immediate support and guidance out there for me was an incredible boost. I had the privilege of accessing the support of an amazing charity called My Cancer My Choices and was truly humbled by the range of complementary therapies available to me alongside the traditional chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Now to the intriguing issue of the Comfort Zone vs the Catwalk! When Mandy, the founder of My Cancer My Choices, contacted me about taking part in a fundraising fashion show, I jumped at the chance to help raise awareness for this extraordinary charity which is fundamental to my recovery. I was, of course, a little intimidated about being up on the catwalk but could not resist the opportunity to raise money and help more people.
These therapies – and the unbelievably generous volunteers who delivered them – made a massive difference to my psychology and my road to recovery. I was awoken by the benefits of mindfulness, massage therapy, reflexology and even acupuncture…which I never thought I’d try!
I smile as I write this, the catwalk is definitely going to take me out of my comfort zone, but I am up for the challenge!
Also, thank you to the John Lewis Partnership, who generously sponsored this event.

We are rolling out the red carpet as 10 courageous models take to the catwalk in this uplifting and unforgettable evening!
The 10 models, who have all used our complementary therapy service, will be styled by John Lewis and will strut their stuff on the catwalk in front of an amazing audience of friends and family.
We are so excited to be running the evening again after its roaring success in 2019. It represents what the charity does: supporting people to live well, with and beyond a cancer diagnosis.
Welcome drinks will be served in the Place to Eat on the 1st Floor of the John Lewis store in Reading at 4.30 pm. You will then take your seats for the show to start at 5 pm. With the help of the wonderful personal stylists at John Lewis, the models have chosen day and evening wear outfits which they will showcase to the music they have chosen.
If you would like to sponsor the models to give them that extra bit of encouragement to take to the catwalk, then you can donate on our online sponsorship page here. Every penny raised will enable us to give free complementary therapies to more people with cancer in Berkshire this year and next.
