After much deliberation, the Team and I at Soldiering on Awards, including the President, Vice-President, Sponsors and Stakeholders, have taken the sad but necessary decision to move from a face-to-face awards ceremony for 2020, to announcing our winners through a series of virtual events for the Soldiering On Awards 2020.
It was so important that we made the right decision under the circumstances, as the health and safety of our community remains our highest priority.
These virtual events will be filled with as much SOA spirit and prestige as usual. We will be recognising our finalists’ and winners’ achievements to the fullest extent, and as ever they are all victors and even more so than ever before in our eyes.
For SOA 2020 we will mark the occasion with highlights, storytelling and virtual celebrations for each category with an expanded social media campaign and hope the wider community will be joining in to recognise all involved to make this happen. From nominators, judges, sponsors, and supporters.
We will meet again… and I am humbled to be able to say that with the support of our Sponsors, all 2020 finalists will be guests of honour to our next face to face awards in 2021 for which I have no doubt, as said by James Cameron, will be ‘’the best night out for the military when it comes – and boy will we need it’’.
I too will be delighted to see everyone when the time comes, an emotional one no doubt but united we will be!
Special thanks goes to Soldiering on Awards President Lord Dannatt, Vice-President Debra Allcock-Tyler and SOA Patron The Rt Hon Earl Howe PC, who supported our Chairman Martin Wing who tirelessly went between all the stakeholders to ensure we had the best solution for 2020. In addition, a special thanks to our incredible sponsors, and not least to BFBS for their support at this time in helping to adapt and reshape this momentous occasion.
Wishing you all the best in these increasingly challenging times.
